Husbands are great, but every mom needs a friend.
You need someone who will talk you back into the house when you swear you’re going to leave it. You need someone who will stand with you on the ledge not above it. Someone who will watch your kids so you can do a Target run in peace. Someone whose door you never have to knock on, who you can dial again when they don’t answer the first time, because yes you are a stalker, and no it’s not important.
Every mom needs someone outside of the family crazy, who can tell you it’s not that crazy. Someone who makes coffee shops feel like ladies night, and chips and salsa feel like a getaway.
We need someone to cry with when the parents we thought would live forever don’t.
We need someone to sit in our darkness, whose very presence feels a lot like light. We need a partner for Netflix binges and recipe fails. Someone who tells you that you are smart enough to go back to school, strong enough to stay home, and boss enough to quit.
We need someone to screenshot old photos from high school and someone who will burn all the evidence of the bad days and worse decisions.
Marriage is wonderful, parenthood is a blessing, but friendship that spans that entire journey is what keeps you laughing through sleepless nights.
Every momma needs a friend.
So be one.
